The DR Congo national football team is set to be deprived of its last friendly match before flying to the World Cup. The mayor of La Línea de la Concepción, Juan Franco, banned the match scheduled for June 9 at the municipal stadium between the DR Congo and Chile teams, due to the Ebola outbreak in the African country. The DR Congo team was supposed to complete its preparation against Chile, after a friendly match against Denmark in Liège, Belgium. The country is experiencing an Ebola outbreak, forcing its team to cancel its World Cup preparation stage in Kinshasa and transfer it to Belgium. And the DR Congo national football team - in group K with Colombia, Portugal, and Uzbekistan - has been authorized to participate in the World Cup. The friendly match against Denmark took place on Wednesday at 8 pm on L'Équipe live foot. But the mayor of La Línea de la Concepción's decision was justified by health precautions. So the DR Congo national football team will have to settle for just this one friendly match to prepare for the 2026 World Cup. The DR Congo is qualified for the World Cup fifty-two years after its last participation.
